IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD 2000... LET'S START WITH: Genesis 1:1 says: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. "Period." The phrase "God created" (Gen. 1:1, 21, 27) in Genesis 1 is eclipsed by another: "God said" (Gen. 1:3, 6, 7, 11, 14, 20, 24, 26, 29). Its frequency attests to its significance in stressing the way in which God created—simply by speaking a word (Ps. 33:6, 9; Heb. 11:3) (Nelson's New Illustrated Bible dictionary) People of the pagan nations of the ancient world believed that matter was eternal and that the gods evolved out of natural processes. But the Bible teaches that God existed before creation and called the physical world into existence out of nothing. The main account of His acts of creation is found in the first two chapters of the Book of Genesis, although God as creator is a prominent theme in Isaiah 40–48 too. (Nelson's New Illustrated Bible dictionary) In the 19th Century a created creature by the name of Darwin came on the scene. What does the Bible teach us about origins and why is that important? ? THE QUESTION ?: A. Are we God's divine Creation, as stated in Genesis, created to glorify Him?
CREATION The Key basis regarding the belief of the Bible and the need for a Savior, the Creator Jesus Christ, stems from the literal acceptance of what the Bible states in the Genesis account. Disobedience is sin. Gen 3:1-6Man sinned against God and brought shame upon himself. Gen 2:25, Gen 3:7-11 Man's Sin brought death to all creation and our separation from the Creator. Gen 3:19 & 21, 23 &24, Rom 5:12, rom 8:19-22 To save us from the Death and separation we brought upon ourselves, we now needed a Savior/Messiah. Jh 1:29, Heb 10:10 & 14, Titus 2:11-15 (His glorious return) The Alpha and Omega Remember, God has never had a NEW thought! How Awesome is God Almighty? According to the Bible, death (both physical and spiritual) entered the world through man's sin (Genesis 2:17, 3:19, Romans 5:12, 6:23, I Corinthians 15:20-23).
CREATION THE SECOND BEGINNING (4,500 +/- YEARS AGO?) God is outside of time, in fact He created time! The gap many people can't seem to fill is the space and time before creation. God does not specifically tell us anything about this time frame or additional realm. Therefore, there has arisen the millions of years theory which asks many questions and one classic age-old question is: What happened to the dinosaurs? The mistaken assumption is that they must have existed before Adam and Eve! But that would mean they would have lived and died prior to the creation account (as it is written in the Bible) as would any other "prehistoric" animals. No, No, No! The Bible says All creatures lived in the Garden of Eden together, ate plants and lived side by side without fear and in harmony. Gen 1:29-30 Dinosaurs lived with man! Job 40:15-23. God says that He gave Adam and Eve clothes made of animal skin after they had sinned. Gen 3:21 That animal died at the hand of God as the first death on the planet!!! The Great Flood Account God continues sculpting the earth, cleans it with water, sets the rules and makes a covenant with His whole creation. The earth, now only 2,000 or less years old, was engulfed in unspeakable sin. Man had forgotten all about their Creator, all except for one man...Noah. One man and his family, God saved because of obedience. (8 people and 2 of every sort of creature) This is evidence of both God's wrath and His grace. Gen 6:1-8 Judgement of man; Gen 7:11-12 first rain; Gen 7:17-24 the great flood; Gen 8: 13-14 flood ended; Gen 9:8-17 God's covenant with all the earth The Call of God Although we would rather the Lord not tarry, we are Christ's Ambassadors and as such, we have a job to do before we get back home (Heaven). We have been saved and called by God, in the words of Christ Jesus, to the work of The Great Commission. Math 28:18-20
For our last lessons of Romans. CLICK HERE! We were studing New Testament Romans in 1999. Romans has the most complete summery of Christ's commission for the Church (Body of Christ) that is found in any one book of the Bible. It was written by the Apostle Paul as instruction to the early Church in Rome and is still as pertinent for us today. A testimony to God's Living Word.
