Good people and God! "Why does God allow bad things to happen to good people?" The much longer answer is: We will never know the Big plan until we get to Heaven. Perhaps then, a better question is, "Why do good things happen to bad people?" God is holy (Isaiah 6:3; Revelation 4:8). Human beings are sinful (Romans 3:23; 6:23). Do you want to know how God our Creator views humanity? "As it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one! Understand that eternal judgment is by God's standards that are perfect and holy. If God did not hold to His standards, and allowed slackers into His kingdom, He would be a liar! Who would believe in, trust or stake their eternal life on a liar? The Bible says that this life on earth is but a vapor in the span of eternity. This is not our home…it is simply our preparation and proving ground. God desires us all to live acceptably and love Him but he won't make us! He did not want a race of programmed robots to love and adore Him so he created humans with free will. He gave us a set of rules to live by called the Ten Commandments and all those do is show us that we can't keep all or any of them. We are quite simply, all sinners. So, because He is so merciful even to us lowly sinners, He sent Himself…in the person of Jesus Christ, His only Son, to sacrifice Himself, a sinless man, with free will as well, for all our sins past, present and future. What God desires from us! This profound yet simple understanding on the character of God came to me in study only a short time ago. Do you realize that all God ever has or ever will want is… just to be believed! Think of this: How many times have we heard something advertised on TV or on the internet or in the paper or magazine and bought the hype hook line and sinker without any real assurances of quality, substance, service background, etc. We simply took the unverifiable word of someone we didn't even know… some human in a tube or even worse, just a few written words on paper and bought some item or service sight unseen just on that one unverifiable advertisement! Do you realize how foolish it is to then say, "Well I can't really be sure it's true what God says and that the Bible is really His Word." When there have been historically verified witness after witness, after witness, from both the Old and New Testaments. Hundreds of completely accurate prophecy's have come true. People's lives and hearts changed by the knowledge of Christ right in our own households and neighborhoods. Unexplained miracles happening every day in front of our own eyes… to God be the glory! God Himself gave witness to what He said in. 1 John 5: 10 Can we believe the testimony of Almighty God, Creator of Heaven and earth? If we will just believe Him, we will want to live to worship and adore Him. We will want to obey God's Word no matter the cost. We will long to be in fellowship with Him. We will shout from the rooftops about who He is to everyone. We will still sin but we will be forgiven because we believe Him! If we believe that He came down from His Heavenly home as the only Son, Jesus Christ, and was born of a virgin mother to take on the form of a lowly carpenter from Galilee. He died on a Roman cross for our sins past, present and future then rose again on the third day and then ascended back to His home in Heaven where He waits for us, who believe that truth, to come and live with Him in unimaginable grandeur forever and ever. Folks, this life is such a tiny part of eternity. It's just one heartbeat…a single breath. The only thing really constructive we can do for ourselves while we have life on earth is to make the God given free will choice to believe God that what He said about His Son Jesus is true. Then, when this flash in the pan life is over, God will honor our decision to believe Him and take us home where we will forever be in His presence. To be absent of the body is to be present with the Lord. 2 Cor. 5:8 Nowhere does the Bible say there is a second chance after death…nowhere!! It's either choose Him in this life or never. The Bible does say you will live eternally somewhere…and the choices are: Heaven or Hell….as eternal Life or eternal death. What if God is right and you are wrong…Do you want to risk making the wrong choice? Light vs. Dark http://www.interviewwithgod.com/lightmovie.htm An eternal life choice means that in Heaven, we will see our loved ones who made the same right choice. Our heavenly bodies will be youthful and perfect as He is perfect. The beauty of Heaven is indescribable, unfathomable and we can travel about all of the vastness of endless Heaven and earth at will. Our innumerable days will be filled with unbelievable total love, unimagined excitement, flooded with the light of Holiness (I John 1:5-7) and constant worship of the living God forever and ever. Revelation 21:23-24 & 22 God is light and in Him there is no darkness at all. John 1:5 However, if we die (and we never know when that will be) without truly believing God…we are just dead in the blind darkness of our sins because we have made the choice to not believe God. Unfortunately, God will honor that decision as well. That unfortunate decision will require, for those who choose the wrong answer of eternal death, that they will spend eternity without the presence of God never to be bathed in the light of His Holiness…instead…eternal pitch black darkness! Darkness is an impersonal force…the rejection of God. The devil is in the darkness, but is not the darkness, and his power is dependent on men believing a lie. That choice to believe the devil's big lie, keeps you in a sinful body without redemption. A body that is dead, rotting with sin and eternal decay…a body that will never die to relieve its misery. That horrifying place of judgment is a living inferno of pain and agony. No matter where you go, there will be no hiding place, no refuge from the torment. Hell is complete and total darkness because without God, there is no light, no not even one dim ray. No hope, just ever lasting despair and anguish. There will be no form of good in Hell at all…absolutely no pleasantness what so ever. Instead, there will be constant depression, remorsefulness and an eternity full of regrets due to that one bad choice you made that brought you to the pitch black, ungodly, place of eternal dying. Hell was the place of torment created for the devil and his angles… not for humans who are created in the image of God! The facts is that the devil and all his demons will be tortured there too…not running the place as the comics and critics love to portray. You see the devil gets humans to buy into his lies and deceives them into thinking there really is no Hell. It's just as he deceived Adam and Eve. The devil said that God lied to them…that if they ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they would not surly die as God had said. Well Adam and Eve did die, right then, that very instant…They spiritually died and were cast out of the beautiful garden that God had made for them and their descendents for all eternity. The same is true today. The humans that go to Hell choose to do so because they don't believe God. Instead they listen to the devil's lies and make up their own beliefs. They want no part or maybe just a little "comfortable" bit of God in their lives! Jesus said you are either hot or cold. There is no lukewarm. Have you noticed, there is no gray area with God...It's black or white, light or dark, right or wrong! God does not wish that any should perish but that all shall come to repentance and the knowledge of Christ. Rom. 6:10 So, in short instead of eternal death, just choose eternal life! Det. 30:19 Choose the blessings of God in this life too, not the curses. All we have to do is truly believe in the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ (John 3:16; Romans 10:9) in order to be forgiven and promised a home in Heaven (Romans 8:1). What we deserve = Hell. What we are given = eternal life in Heaven if we would just believe. It has been said, this world is the only Hell believers will ever experience…and this world is the only Heaven unbelievers will ever experience. The next time we ask the question, "Why does God allow bad things to happen to good people?" Maybe we should be asking, "Why does God allow good things to happen to bad people?"
